Youghal Eco-Boardwalk

Youghal Eco-Boardwalk is a 2.5 km hardwood paneled beach walkway, stretching from Front Strand Beach to Redbarn Beach. Regal Cinema Youghal

The Regal Cinema, Youghal is a recently reborn, restored to the glamour it would have had when it originally opened its doors in 1936. The cinema is steeped in history and is most famous for hosting the world premier of John Huston’s Moby Dick in 1954 – which was shot in Youghal and included many local fishermen as extras in the film.

Regal cinema has a wine bar which anyone can come in and use, as well as a multi-purpose function room and events like ladies’ nights, pyjama parties and midnight screenings have been hugely successful at the Regal.

Youghal Heritage Trail

This is a comprehensive walk of Old Youghal taking in some of the most important landmarks in Youghals history. This is best experienced by taking a guided tour. 

Commencing at the Youghal Visitor Centre, Market Square, this route follows along 17 sites all marked by a series of sequential signposts, and includes some of the most important landmarks in the town The 13th century town walls, St. Marys Collegiate Church and the Watergate are just a few examples of its historical past which are still intact.

Although only open since 1986 the course has evolved into one of the finest in Ireland and had the honour of hosting the National Gents matchplay in 2012.

Bird Watching in Youghal

Ballyvergan Marsh,  is located to the north of Redbarn, Youghal, Co. Cork and is a proposed Natural Heritage Area. is one of the largest natural reed beds in Europe and a haven for wildlife.

Ballyvergan has long established plant and bird communities and is a very important breeding site for migratory birds from all over the world and the most extensive breeding site for reed warblers in Ireland. It is also home to otter, fox, stoats, hedgehogs and mink. An existing birdhide is very popular for bird watching enthusiasts

Large autumn roost of swallows and martins and sometimes a very large winter roost of starlings. Hen Harriers roost here also and can be very good for rare raptors in spring and autumn.
